Over the years The Craft Centre and Design Gallery has supported literally thousands of jewellers in a vast array of jewellery showcases and exhibitions. This celebratory jewellery exhibition will be bringing together twenty jewellers in total; ten makers who have been supported for at least the last 5 years and ten up and coming makers who we feel deserve representation and support for their future. From the vibrant acrylic jewellery of Gail Klevan to the delicately patterned ceramic pieces by Helen Smythe, this exhibition is sure to appeal to a wide range of visitors old and new. We have supported some of these designers from their early days in jewellery making and witnessed how their work has evolved and taken on its distinctive styles; the wonderfully whimsical pieces of Becky Crow (pictured below left), the marvellous work of Katie Clarke using vibrantly coloured feathers and silver, the quirky work of Nick Hubbard (pictured top left) celebrating humorous messages and figures, and the classic designs of work in silver, gold and precious stones by such makers as Jacqueline Warrington (pictured top 2nd from left) and Poppy Dandiya. Debby Moxon’s (pictured top right) work in titanium and silver, Jessica Brigg’s work using silver and gold and Jolene Smith’s work using silver all combine to make this a real feast for the eyes. Our more recently supported jewellers show a diverse approach to jewellery design and their unique interpretations are a pleasure to showcase here in this exhibition. Featuring vibrant work by Sarah Lindsay using recycled plastics, Meng Jung Li’s (pictured top 3rd from left) beautiful jewellery utilising threads, alpaca hair and silks, Jo Pond (pictured above right) combining found objects with silver and papers creating a romantic feel to the work, and intricately knitted work by Teri Howes (pictured top 4th from left) using fine silver and gold. Dianne Saad’s elegant work in silver and gold with use of semi precious stones creates a beautiful collection, as too do the oxidised silver pieces by Marianne Anderson which are charmingly ornamental and decorative. Hannah Bedford and Sonja Bennett’s work in silver and gold have been inspired by nature and both display a unique interpretation of this theme. Hannah Simpson (pictured above centre) also explores the theme of nature and combines Perspex with silver and oxidised silver, a fantastic contrast of materials. Contrasting textures and finishes are explored within the work of Lorraine Allan as she applies this to simple shapes creating an enchanting collection of jewellery. ‘You’ll be spoilt for choice as these talented makers come together in this remarkable exhibition.’
