Sally's work is extremely tactile; beautiful abstract sculptures and vases attract the viewer to touch and feel the unusual shapes and forms. Her work is organic in nature, suggesting references to the human body. Each viewer will find their own interpretationof this work. Some textures are created to urge a compulsion to touch, a smooth and polished sensual surface or a surface more rough and irregular. |

Sally initially uses a white body clay to which various aggregates and body stains are added. The composition of material is revealed after firing, by hand grinding the surface. A further firing is performed at a high temperature, to create the unusual textured surface, or at a lower temperature to create the smooth finish by later sanding and polishing. |
