This
wonderfully 'diverse' exhibition is a mixed showcase featuring
5 designers who produce a wide range of artwork. Each of our
designers explore the qualities of the medium they use, ultimately
creating small and large pieces of work in an attempt to appeal
to a wider audience.
Showcasing Ceramics, Jewellery, Wood, Glass and Textiles this
exhibition will provide a truly superb insight into the exploratory
nature of some of the most exciting designers in the country.
Textile
Artist and Designer Suzanne McCulloch constructs exquisite
hand-made felt. Jewellery, tea cosies, bags and wall hangings
make up just some of her range of work. With her largest inspiration
being taken from her own childhood the work produced involves
a feeling of nostalgia and is extremely sympathetic to the
naïve spontaneity similar to that of a child's execution
of artwork.
Wood
Turner Sarah Thirwell creates contemporary vessels and bowls
with natural timbers such as Ash, Lime and Sycamore. Inspired
by nature, Sarah creates functional yet decorative objects
that are sculptural in shape. The most original aspect of
the design is her ability to fuse acrylic with wood, creating
an individual blend between natural and synthetic, solid and
translucent.
Sarah
Perry produces stoneware and porcelain Ceramics and will be
sharing her explorations with the medium by showcasing ceramic
jewellery through to larger vessels and bowls. Using overlapping
matt glazes creates her outstanding seascapes and cool landscapes.
Her range of lustred porcelain jewellery combines vivid glazes
with metallic lustres creating a unique collection.
Glass
designer and maker Amy Cushing/Mosquito will be offering an
exceptional selection of jewellery, bowls and beautiful coloured
glass compositions. Pieces often incorporate precious metallic
coatings to accentuate and contrast. Whilst others appear
understated, they are actually complex in terms of layering
and joining colour.
