The

not considered precious but have many beautiful qualities, rich in pattern
and texture. Through experimentation with the materials and a sound
knowledge of techniques, each maker has produced a collection of colourful,
wearable pieces of art.

"Although
not inherently precious. I have always thought plastic to be a beautiful
material." Explains Wendy Sarah Pacey. Her irridescent jewellery
is made from a composite of acrylic and metallic foils.
Marlene
McKibbin combines acrylic and stainless steel to produce strong, simple,
minimal shapes. Julie Ann Seaman also uses acrylics that she laminates
together and then carves into various shapes and forms, many of her
pieces are reversible.

Michael
Peckitt's dynamic acrylic pieces are hand painted with special vegetable
dyes which are then sealed so that the colour is fixed.
Ann Little's slate pieces are painted with layers of enamels which are
subsequently scratched and rubbed back to distress the surface and create
an individual finish which is then inlaid with silver.
An exciting collection of simple, beautiful and ultimately wearable
jewellery.
