Artist Demonstration
See Cathy Miles at work

Saturday 5th November 2005 12-3pm

Cathy demonstrated the various processes and techniques that she uses to construct her three dimensional wire wall drawings. She showed how she cleverly combines iron-binding wire with found objects and materials to create witty depictions of birds in conversion. Her characters come to life to reveal their grumbles and gripes, bad habits, love interests and attention seeking behaviour. Some of the characters that were constructed included Beasley the starling, Beek with his bothering bottom itch and the Little Awks. Visitors were able to, see work in progress, talk to the artist and ask any questions that they had.

The event was organised by The Craft Centre and Design Gallery to launch the exhibition
Make Me Smile which was on display from 5 th November 2005 –14 th January 2006.
