Michèle
Noach was born in Sydney, Australia in 1963. She was brought
up in Australia, North America and the Netherlands, before
eventually settling in England at the beginning of the 70s.
She studied etching at the Camden Institute, where she fell
in love with printmaking. She then studied further at Ormond
Road Studios, Putney School of Art and the Architectural Association.
Michèle compiles crosswords for newspapers via international
syndication and is a sign language interpreter. This interest
in codes and signing is evident in her imagery, which exemplifies
the many languages that we as humans react to.
Michèle's recent Arctic expedition (Cape Farewell)
has inspired the work which will be on show at the Natural
History Museum next summer, along with other artists from
the project. This expedition provided Michèle with
a place for real artistic investigation.
