Eleven contemporary glassmakers have been invited to produce a functional range of works featuring vases, bowls and vessels, each demonstrating the diversity and vibrancy of this exciting medium. |

The makers taking part, Aaronson Noon, Blowzone, Ruth Dresman, Catherine Hough, Wendy Johnson, Charlie MacPherson, Paul Mazza, Morag Phillips, Lisa Michaela Rabone, Kathryn Roberts and Jo Vincent work on the functional form, creating ranges that emphasise the individuality of each piece. Combining an innovative variety of hot and warm glass techniques, such as blowing and kiln forming, with distinctive surface treatments and decorative finishes. |

The
glassmaker of today is still working with techniques developed many
centuries ago, such as blowing and sandblasting, however as passion
and interest has evolved so has the search for new methods and new applications
for traditional techniques.

This has enabled contemporary glass production to take on a new resonance, with spectacular results. All forms are designed for use ranging from affordable vases to visually stunning one-off centrepieces. |

complement this exhibition, a Jewellery Showcase entitled "Translucent
" has been arranged, incorporating five sensational
jewellers who create pieces using plastics, resin, acrylic and glass.
