EXHIBITION Emma Grover 1st March - 30th June 2002 |

|
The Craft Centre & Design Gallery is delighted to present this provocative and inspiring exhibition of recent prints by Emma Grover whose work is illustrative and childlike, but executed with technical and creative sophistication. Emma's inspiration is derived from 'everyday things that happen'. She uses imagination to create her characters who are often repeated throughout her work. With names like 'bucket man' and 'bird', these pictorial creatures reveal themselves through recognisable symbols.

These
intriguing characters suggest meaning to the viewer, rather than supplying
a specific narrative. This work also explores a variety of ideas,
relationships, the passage of time, power and gender. The carefully
selected use of handmade paper adds subtle colour to the linear quality of
these beautifully detailed graphic illustrations.
