The Craft Centre and Design Gallery is excited to present a magnificent showcase celebrating work sourced from last years New Designers Graduate Show. These carefully selected designers aim to add a new dimension to accompany the ‘Rings’ exhibition of wonderful new talent emerging from universities around the UK. Nine designers will be dazzling our visitors with a range of ring designs in a diverse range of materials to illustrate how dynamic this jewellery item can be. Caren Hartley (BA Hons 3D Design Metalwork & Jewellery - University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham). “An inspiring blend of the precious and the everyday in this assortment of creative rings.” Gemma Kay (BA Hons Metalwork & Jewellery – Sheffield Hallam University). “Bold rings made from silver and felt inspired by organic forms.” Beth Hughes (BA Hons 3D Design – Manchester Metropolitan University). “A delicate series of rings reflecting the fragility and strength in the human existence.” Ai Morita (BA Hons Design Silversmithing & Jewellery - Glasgow School of Art & MA in Applied Art – Royal College of Art, London). “Quirky and playful rings inspired by toys like the Rubik’s Cube. The kinetic element in the work encourages the wearer to play with the jewellery.” Yoriko Mitsuhashi (BA Hons Design & Applied Art – Edinburgh College of Art & MA Goldsmith, Silversmith, Metalwork and Jewellery – Royal College of Art). “Elegant rings made from precious metals and pearls. Pearls are set discreetly inside the ring using simple forms as a container.” Ruth Jackson (BA Hons Jewellery & Silversmithing – Edinburgh College of Art). “Tactile and fun to wear, these rings come from a period of experimentation with enamel, colour, surface and texture.” Lyndsey Davies (BA Hons Jewellery/Mixed Media – University of Central Lancashire). “Contemporary mixed media pieces where diverse objects and materials have been set in an assortment of fantastic styles.” Victoria Stockbridge (BA Hons Jewellery Design – Buckingham Chiterns University College & MA in Jewellery Design – Central St Martins University, London). “A fresh collection of innovative rings exploring stone setting.” Jo Hayes (BA Hons Silversmithing & Metalwork – Camberwell College of Art & MA Goldsmith, Silversmith, Metalwork and Jewellery – Royal College of Art). “Intricate geometric and tessellating ring forms wonderfully created in 18ct white and yellow gold and silver.” |
