For the past 38 years we have been championing contemporary craft in the vibrant city of Leeds to shine a spotlight on independent makers and their small businesses from across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. Through an exciting seasonal exhibition programme we highlight the skills behind handmade and share their inspiring stories. Bringing these amazing collections of contemporary craft together under one roof has created a haven for many visitors to escape the stresses of daily life & create mindful experiences. Please help us keep the gallery and the hundreds of small businesses we support alive by donating what you can so we can continue to keep bringing the very best of contemporary craft to you and help us and these creative industries thrive.
Please click on the donate button to donate what you can. Thank you so much!
"We bought this picture of a curlew, The Return, by Hester Cox a few years ago, after finding it in the Craft Centre & falling in love with it. We had become interested in bird watching, & I seemed to think that everything I saw from a distance was a curlew! I have recently been corrected & put in my place by a more experienced birder in a bird hide. We've seen plenty of them since & have got a little better at identifying them. The attached photos show Lizzie looking at the picture through her binoculars! It usually hangs in the house though."
We're lucky enough to still have Hester's series of wildlife and nature inspired collagraph prints on display at the moment in our print browsers. If you have been inspired by this story you can pay us a visit and start your own print collection today. We're open Tue - Sat 1oam - 5pm, closed Sundays and Mondays.
Thanks Dave and Lizzie. It's great of you to share your lovely story with us. If you have a story you'd like to share then simply send us a photograph of the piece you bought from us and now treasure and tell us the story behind it. Send it to us via email to email@example.com and we'll do the rest.
