This
striking exhibition has been researched to include several designers
whose work is inspired by and deemed perfect for contemporary
weddings, marriages and the associations of that special day.
It focuses on bridal adornment, especially rings, jewellery,
headwear and accessories, wonderful textiles and beautiful bags.
There
is fine silver and gold from the splendid Irene Metaxatos, Kayo
Saito and Ruta Brown, Olivia Schlevogt and Mackay & Pearson.
Included is the very feminine work of Alison Macleod, who uses
precious metals, gems and beads along with quirky 'bra bits'
inspired by the fifties. Kate Wilkinson and Anna Lewis are displaying
their unusual jewellery, both using feathers, offering a contemporary
twist to any wedding day. Sarah Cilia creates unusual work made
from porcelain and precious metals presenting a decorative collection
of work inspired by opulent wallpaper, texture and geometric
shapes. Tracy Jones uses silver, paper, porcelain and silk to
produce stunning pieces of work inspired by reflections, intricate
detail and the female form.
Accompanying
the jewellery are the amazing steel and silver bags of Jennifer
Wall, the unusual hand-felted and silk 'bobble' bags of Ruth
Waller and the beautifully detailed bags of Elaine Elder, Emily
Jo Gibbs and Clare Webster, offering something unique with a
timeless elegance.
Emma
Jay and Sarah Cant are displaying items of headwear and intricate
hair accessories. Emma Jay uses silver and gold creating stunning
tiaras for that special day, inspired by poetry, with a 'young
at heart' sophistication. Sarah Cant uses traditional millinery
techniques with innovative designs and unconventional materials
to make exclusive head pieces with a strong and elegant shape.
