Green and Pattullo

4th July - 24th October 2015

Group print exhibition with Catherine Green and Mandy Pattullo.  Mandy and Catherine Green offer up their latest works in this beautifully bright and vibrant exhibition of screenprints and monotype prints.  Mandy explores still life compositions and flowers with a strong colour palette and Catherine’s new screenprints explore the sights of Yorkshire, her home county.

"Working in the beautiful village of Gomersal, Yorkshire, it’s hard not to be inspired. In fact, wherever you are in the county, you’re never far from gorgeous rolling hills, stunning walking trails, and quaint tea rooms.  You could say I’m fortunate, then, that my favourite thing to capture in art form is the beauty of rural landscapes. Contemporary in style, any one of my pieces combine gorgeous fabrics, textures and cheery shades to add a burst of beautiful colour to your home.  Each piece has been carefully and lovingly handcrafted in my studio, and I’m certain you’ll get as much enjoyment out of your chosen work of art as I did creating it."

"I trained as a Surface Pattern and Textile Designer and now work from an attic studio in a converted manse in rural Northumberland. I run textile and printmaking workshops, work one day a week in a hospital arts project and make work  to sell from my studio and for exhibition. My work is based on collage techniques -  whether patching and piecing together fabrics or using paper ephemera and layering in my printmaking. I am drawn to pieces of cloth that have a patina and try to source vintage fabrics and quilts to recycle into my own work, particularly those which show a history of use, and evidence of a previous female needleworker. I combine these with fabrics which I already have or which are given to me. I don't want to buy new anymore and pursue what I call a thread and thrift vision. I  primarily hand sew combining piecing and  applique with stitch, and collaging in found objects and small precious bits of embroidery."
