Metamorphosis I

Fascinated by the beautiful textures and markings within slate, Daniel Cooper’s solo showcase explores this wonderful material with a series of vessels and relief pieces. 

 

His inspiration comes from a visit to Elterwater Slate Quarry in the Lake District where after spending time with the local quarrymen he found himself inspired by them; their stories of riving slate, finding beautiful textures and strata markings within this incredibly unforgiving material.  For this exhibition Daniel has adopted the working methods, knowlegde and local dialect of the quarrymen.
