Michele Wyckoff Smith

Michele is constantly in search of textures and shapes in the world around her.  Whether it is rusting and twisted bits of metal in the road or pebbles along the seaside, these objects become her treasures and inspiration.  Michele translate the surfaces and shapes created by the ravages of time into bold and simple forms in precious metals and gemstones.  Her designs begin with abstract drawings, paper constructions, looking at found objects and manipulation of metal pieces.  Hand-carved pieces of wax evolve into silver or gold rings that are miniature sculptures worn on the body.  Michele works in metal, reacting to the beauty of the materials, shapes and textures and thinks about how her pieces can be worn in a number of different ways.

 

Tamara Gomez

Tamara designs and hand crafts raw diamonds and gem set fine jewellery in sterling silver and various carats of gold from her studio at Cockpit Arts in Central London.  Born in Sri-Lanka, Tamara trained at Loughborough College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art graduating in 1997.
Tamara’s designs and hand crafted raw diamond and gem set jewellery takes its inspiration from nature, spirituality, intuition and experimenting with the materials.  Finished pieces come freely from working directly with the materials.  Her signature 'Raw diamond collection' recognises the raw beauty of a natural uncut diamond and celebrates the quirks that rough diamonds often have.

 

Hannah Batstone

Hannah is a contemporary jeweller based in Cornwall.  Her jewellery collections draw inspiration from shapes and colours observed from the landscapes that surround her.  Incorporating elements of texture, and carefully chosen semi-precious gemstones into her designs, each piece is handcrafted using traditional silversmithing and gem setting techniques.

 

Ghost & Bonesetter

Karen Daye-Hutchinson creates unique pieces of jewellery relating to history and Myth.  She loves walking and having a good daydream in the woods or visiting museums and galleries; something will always come out of it and then inspire her work.  Each piece is part of its own larger story; unconventional ornamentation for everyday.  Karen is not only a jeweller but also a painter and printmaker.  She studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Ulster, Belfast.  She has always worked with metal and textures whether through her printmaking, jewellery making or sculpture.

Josef Koppmann

Having studied at the Arts and Crafts College in Vienna, Josef set up his own studio in London and opened the OXO Tower showroom in 2008.  His sculptural and geometric forms are predominately made in sterling silver with 24ct gold overlay, fused together by using traditional jewellery making techniques.  The abstract texture that results reveals the intense colour of the 24ct gold, whilst contrasting with the gentle and cool shimmer of the silver.  Vibrant gemstones, carefully chosen for their unique quality and cut, form the central aspect of every piece.  Each and every ring is entirely handmade using time honoured goldsmith’s skills, resulting in minimalist, wearable jewels for both women and men.

 

Roxanne Gilbert

Roxanne is inspired by complex and intricate textures and compositions.  She uses the ancient lost-wax casting techniques to create wearable clusters of silver and gold in her London studio and likes to recycle metals and ethical gemstones as much as possible.  The way Roxanne sets the gemstones and pearls gives the appearance of melting into the metal; a look that is integral to the structure and form of the pieces rather than being the main focus.

 

Agneta Bugyte

Agneta was brought up in a large town in Lithuania and as a child she’d often go into the woods and lakes, where the textures and shapes of stones, moss and wood enchanted her.  She always took something back home with her like a piece of tree bark, moss, a stone or a pine cone to remind her of that special moment.   Agneta's skills in jewellery design come from her studies at the National Arts Academy in Lithuania where she received her professional degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing in 2012.  Her education was focused on craftsmanship as well as conceptual thinking.  Agneta’s work is detailed and she prefers the microscopic view rather than the panoramic.  Although smooth and beautifully finished, the pieces speak of the natural textures wrought by earth and fire, of lava and glass-smooth molten flows of metal.  Raw nature and the silence of the vastness provide her with inspiration.  In her UK workshop, those great wildernesses are condensed, recreated and wrought into unique jewels of exquisite beauty.

 

Disa Allsop

Disa was born in London and grew up in Barbados.  This special island really influenced her jewellery designs, visible in her use of colourful gemstones.  Disa personally selects each stone such as golden citrines, warm garnets, rubies, sapphires and morganites.  White and coloured diamonds are set on unique bands while rough and rare cut gemstones make Disa’s work contemporary and current maintaining a timeless charm.  Disa exhibits internationally with stockists throughout the UK, United States, Japan and France. 

 

Pistol & Peach

Pistol and Peach are a husband and wife team (Theresa and Ryan) who started their studio in Cape Town and moved to Sheffield 2 years ago.  Both makers were born in South Africa but the initial idea of starting Pistol and Peach jewellery studio began on a four month backpacking journey through Peru.  Inspired by the vivid colourful landscape of South America and its people's industrious spirit.  They are continuously inspired by natures' power in its landscape, shape and colour.  For this year's Rings exhibition their collection has drawn upon the flavours of spring time.
