Celebrate Autumn with wreaths and leaf art made from found natural objects, during a day-long workshop with renowned  artist and nature crafter Jane Bevan.

Celebrate Autumn with Wreaths and Leaf Art Workshop with Jane Bevan ...

"If you love Autumn and the wonderful colours it brings then this nature art workshop may be for you.

We will be using autumn leaves, collected from various trees and plants, alongside other natural materials, to make artworks which can last years. The leaf wreaths, both large and small, will be made using a simple willow or wire base, perfect to decorate the house and bring nature inside. We will also use leaves to create collage, stitched work and wall hangings in a truly rustic style."

Create wreaths and leaf art from found natural objects, during a day-long workshop with renowned  artist and nature crafter Jane Bevan.  Jane is an internationally exhibited artist, author of the definitive work 'Craft from Natural Materials', and one of the most exciting and visionary craftspeople working with found natural objects today.  The Craft Centre and Design Gallery is proud to host a workshop with Jane, giving participants a unique opportunity to make their own crafted pieces from found natural objects under her guidance and direction.

Taking often overlooked materials like feathers, bark, seeds and thorns, Jane's workshop will teach participants how to unlock the hidden colours, textures and patterns of these discarded natural objects, and transform them into unique artworks.  A selection of eye-catching materials will be provided, and participants are welcome and encouraged to bring along their own found objects too.  You will learn how to transform these natural treasures through hand-stitching, tying and weaving techniques, creating intricately assembled vessels, sculptures and collages to take home.

"Prepare to be surprised and pleased by the range and quality of playful artwork that can be created from found natural materials including acorn cups, feathers, bark, leaves and twigs. Participants are always pleased, and often surprised by what they have made, and the potential of natural materials for making art."

Jane's own own work offers a transformative and radical vision on how to reinterpret the natural world and how to celebrate the overlooked - you are invited to join Jane, learn some of the key principles of nature crafting, and share in her inspiration.

Materials are provided in this all-day workshop and participants can also bring their own finds to work with.

As this is an all-day event, there will be a lunchtime break for refreshments.  Participants are welcome to bring along their own lunch, and there are many places in the Leeds City Centre locality to find something to eat.
